Quick Answer: how to pass the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam in two weeks

Give it ten weekdays: eight study hours of about an hour each and two practice sessions of two to three hours. The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam (CLF-C02) is AWS's foundational test of what the cloud is, what the main services do, how security is split, and how billing works. It does not test coding.

That is the plan. Days 1 to 6 cover the four domains: cloud concepts, security and compliance, cloud technology and services, then billing, pricing and support. Days 7 to 10 are questions: an official practice set, a walkthrough of how to read the answers, weak-spot review, and a readiness check that tells you whether to sit the exam or move the date.

Two rules make it work. Each day has one short video aimed at that day's job, and the 13-hour course is a reference you dip into by topic, never a box set. And every study hour ends with a written list of three things you could explain to a colleague, because the exam asks you to pick the right idea, not recite a definition.

What the exam actually tests

Per AWS's certification page and exam guide, read October 2026, CLF-C02 is 65 questions in 90 minutes, either one correct answer out of four or two or more correct out of five or more. Fifty questions are scored and 15 are unscored, and you cannot tell which. Wrong guesses cost nothing; blank answers count as wrong.

The scored content is split across four domains. These are the weights from the AWS exam guide, read October 2026:

DomainShare of scored contentDays in this plan
Cloud Concepts24%Days 1-2
Security and Compliance30%Day 3, revisited Day 8
Cloud Technology and Services34%Days 4-5, revisited Day 8
Billing, Pricing, and Support12%Day 6

Two numbers matter more than the rest. Security plus technology is 64% of the scored content, so that is where your review time goes in Week 2. And the score is scaled from 100 to 1,000 with a pass at 700, using compensatory scoring: you need to pass the exam overall, not each domain. A weak billing domain will not fail you on its own.

Just as useful is what AWS lists as out of scope: coding, designing cloud architecture, troubleshooting, implementation, and load and performance testing. If a video starts walking through a terminal or writing code, that part is not for you this fortnight.

Should a non-engineer even be taking this?

Yes. AWS's own certification FAQ, read October 2026, says the exam is for people new to cloud who may not have an IT background, and names line-of-business roles such as sales, marketing, product and project management. The target candidate has up to six months of AWS exposure, but AWS says that is not required.

If you are still wondering what the credential does for someone in your seat, Tech With Lucy's Is the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification ACTUALLY worth it? (Tech With Lucy, 9 min) is the one video to watch on that question. Watch it this weekend, not on a study day. Your manager has already decided you are taking it, so the rest of this plan is about passing.

For a wider view of how the cloud fits together beyond this exam, our guide on how to learn cloud computing from YouTube covers the longer road. You do not need it to pass in two weeks.

Before Day 1: three things to set up

Before your first study hour, create an AWS Skill Builder login, open the AWS exam guide in a tab, and confirm your booking: test center or online proctored, date, time. Then block eight one-hour slots and two longer slots in your calendar. A plan that lives only in your head loses to the first busy week.

Skill Builder. AWS's Cloud Practitioner Essentials is a digital course on Skill Builder that costs nothing and runs 12 hours 45 minutes, per AWS's training page, read October 2026. Like the YouTube course, treat it as reference by module. The same login gets you the 20-question official practice set on Day 7.

The exam guide. Keep the AWS exam guide open all fortnight. When a video mentions a service and you wonder whether it matters, the guide is the tiebreaker.

A question log. One page, three columns: the question you got wrong, the domain, and the one-line reason the right answer is right. Week 2 runs on this page.

Week 1: the four domains, one per day or two

Week 1 is five weekdays of content: cloud concepts on Days 1 and 2, security on Day 3, and the services domain across Days 4 and 5. Each day is one short, focused video plus one topic section of the freeCodeCamp course. Billing waits until Day 6 because it is the lightest domain by weight.

Day 1: what the cloud is and why companies pay for it

Open freeCodeCamp's AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification Course 2026 (CLF-C02) - Pass the Exam! (freeCodeCamp.org, taught by Andrew Brown of ExamPro, 13h 46m) and use its chapter list to watch the cloud concepts material only. It is enough because today's job is vocabulary: what cloud computing means, the deployment models, and why a company moves off its own servers.

Your hour today: write down, in your own words, three reasons your company might run on AWS rather than its own data center. If you sell, market or manage a product built on AWS, use that product as the example. The exam rewards the reasoning, not the sentence you copied.

Day 2: the Well-Architected Framework

Watch Be A Better Dev's 6 Pillars of the AWS Well Architected Framework (you should really know this) (Be A Better Dev, 19 min). It is enough because the framework is a short, fixed list of six pillars, and a 19-minute tour of each one gives you the names and the idea behind each.

Your hour today: make a six-row table, one pillar per row, with a single plain example from your own company next to each. Then spend the rest of the hour going back through the freeCodeCamp cloud concepts chapters you skimmed on Day 1.

Day 3: security, starting with who is responsible for what

Watch AWS's own Simplify the AWS Shared Responsibility Model (Amazon Web Services, 7 min). It is enough because the shared responsibility model is the frame for the whole security domain: which parts AWS secures and which parts the customer secures. Hear it from AWS first.

Your hour today: after the video, jump to the identity and security sections of the freeCodeCamp course for the rest of the hour. Security and Compliance is 30% of scored content per the AWS exam guide, read October 2026, so it gets a second pass on Day 8. Log any term you could not explain to a colleague.

Day 4: where AWS runs, then the core services

Watch Digital Cloud Training's AWS Global Infrastructure Overview - Regions, Availability Zones, Edge Locations and more (Digital Cloud Training, 6 min). It is enough because regions, Availability Zones and edge locations are a small set of terms, and six minutes covers how they relate.

Your hour today: use the remaining time on the freeCodeCamp sections for compute and storage. Your goal is not to configure anything, since implementation is out of scope. Your goal is to name the right service for a plain-English need, like "run a website" or "store files cheaply".

Day 5: the rest of the services domain

No new video today. Go back to the freeCodeCamp chapter list and watch the sections on databases and networking. That is enough because Cloud Technology and Services is the biggest domain, 34% per the AWS exam guide, read October 2026, and today is about breadth: recognising a service by what it does.

Your hour today: build a one-page service map with four headings, compute, storage, databases and networking, and two or three services under each with a one-line purpose. Read it out loud once. If a line takes you more than a sentence to explain, mark it for Day 8.

Week 2: billing, then questions until you are ready

Week 2 covers the last domain and then switches from watching to answering. Day 6 is billing and support, Day 7 is the official practice set, Days 8 and 9 are review driven by your question log, and Day 10 is a readiness check and exam-day plan. Days 7 and 10 are the two longer sessions.

Day 6: billing, pricing and support

Watch CloudWolf AWS's AWS Support Plans [Everything You Need To Know] (CloudWolf AWS, 8 min). It is enough because support plans are a short list of tiers that differ by what you get, and eight minutes lays them side by side, which is how the questions compare them.

Your hour today: follow it with the freeCodeCamp billing and pricing sections. This domain is 12% per the AWS exam guide, read October 2026, so keep it to one day. For a non-engineer this is often the friendliest domain, because it reads like a contract and an invoice.

Day 7: the official practice set (long session)

Take AWS's Official Practice Question Set on Skill Builder: 20 questions, no cost. Then watch Digital Cloud Training's AWS Cloud Practitioner CLF-C02 | Practice Questions Walkthrough (Digital Cloud Training, 18 min). Together they are enough because one shows the real question style and the other shows how to read them.

Your session today: take the 20 questions in one sitting with no notes. Log every miss and every lucky guess with its domain. During the walkthrough, pause before each answer and say yours first. By the end of the day you should know which domain is your weakest.

Day 8: weak-spot review on the two big domains

No new video. Sort your question log by domain and start with Security and Compliance and Cloud Technology and Services, which together are 64% of scored content per the AWS exam guide, read October 2026. For each missed question, rewatch only the freeCodeCamp section on that topic, or the matching Cloud Practitioner Essentials module.

Your hour today: for every logged miss, write why the right answer is right and why each wrong option is wrong. When a wrong option is a real AWS service, naming what that service is actually for is the skill being tested.

Day 9: close the gaps and decide on extra practice

Finish the log, then cover any domain you skipped. If you want more questions than the free set, AWS also offers an Official Pretest and an Official Practice Exam. The practice exam needs a Skill Builder subscription, which AWS lists from $29 USD a month on its certification prep page, read October 2026. Ask your manager whether the team pays for one.

Your hour today: go back to your Day 5 service map and Day 2 pillar table, and fix every line you marked. Then re-answer only the questions you missed on Day 7, a day later, without looking at your notes.

Day 10: readiness check and exam-day plan (long session)

Run one honest check: take whatever fresh practice questions you have, timed, and explain each answer out loud. You are ready when your misses are scattered rather than stacked in one domain, and you can say why each wrong option is wrong. If one domain still dominates, move the exam date rather than guess.

Your session today: plan the clock. Per AWS's certification page, read October 2026, you get 90 minutes for 65 questions, so about 80 seconds each. Answer every question, because a blank counts as wrong and a wrong guess costs nothing. Flag hard ones and come back. For an online proctored exam, test your room and computer setup the day before.

What to skip in these two weeks

Skip anything that builds things rather than explains them: hands-on labs, architecture design, code, and associate-level material. AWS lists coding, architecture design, troubleshooting and implementation as out of scope for CLF-C02, per the exam guide read October 2026. Each is real and useful, and none of it moves your score this fortnight.

The full freeCodeCamp course end to end. At 13 hours 46 minutes it is longer than the eight one-hour study slots in this plan combined. It is an excellent reference. Watch it by topic, and close it when the day's topic ends.

The full Essentials course end to end. The same goes for the 12 hour 45 minute Cloud Practitioner Essentials course. Use its modules to fill a specific gap from your question log.

Console labs. Clicking around the AWS console feels productive, but the exam asks what a service is for, not how to set one up. Leave it until after the exam.

The next certification. If this exam makes you curious about a technical role, our guide on how to move from cloud support to cloud engineering and our ranking of the best YouTube channels for cloud engineering across AWS, Azure and GCP are the next reads, after the exam.

What the exam and the extras cost

The exam itself is 100 USD, per AWS's certification page, read October 2026, taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online with a proctor. Every YouTube lesson in this plan costs nothing, as do the Cloud Practitioner Essentials course and the 20-question official practice set on Skill Builder.

The only optional spend is the Official Practice Exam, which needs a Skill Builder subscription. AWS lists the Individual subscription from $29 USD a month on its certification prep page, read October 2026. Whether it is worth it depends on how Day 7 went; if your misses are scattered and few, the free set and your question log may be enough.

Before you pay for anything, ask your manager. Your company may cover the exam fee, and it may already have a training subscription you can use. Ask on Day 1, not Day 9.

Proof at the end: the pass, plus the certificate

The proof that this fortnight worked is the pass itself. Per AWS's certification page, read October 2026, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner credential is valid for three years, and it is the only thing that makes you AWS certified. Nothing else in this plan, including any certificate from a learning platform, replaces it.

Bring one more thing back to your manager: the one-page service map from Day 5 and the shared responsibility notes from Day 3. They are the parts of the exam you will use in meetings, when a customer or an engineer asks who handles what.

LearnPath builds a path of free YouTube videos for a topic and generates a quiz from each video's transcript, so you find out whether a lesson stuck before the exam does. Free opens step 1 of up to two paths; every later step is Pro. The completion certificate is Pro-only, so free accounts do not get one, and it is not an AWS certification. Only passing CLF-C02 earns that.

Build a work-ready AWS Cloud Practitioner path before your exam date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Six questions that come up when a non-engineer is booked on CLF-C02 with two weeks to go. Each short answer points back to the part of the plan that covers it, so you can jump there when the question comes up halfway through a study hour.

Can a non-technical person pass the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam in two weeks?

AWS says the exam is for people new to cloud who may not have an IT background, and names sales, marketing, product and project management. Two weeks is tight but workable if you study every weekday and take real practice questions. Nobody can promise a pass, so use Day 10 to decide honestly.

Do I need to know how to code for the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

No. The AWS exam guide, read October 2026, lists coding as out of scope, along with designing cloud architecture, troubleshooting, implementation, and load and performance testing. You need to know what the main services are for, who is responsible for what, and how billing and support work, in plain language.

What score do you need to pass the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

Per the AWS exam guide, read October 2026, results are a scaled score from 100 to 1,000 and the pass mark is 700. Scoring is compensatory, so you pass on the overall exam and do not need to pass each domain. Only 50 of the 65 questions count, and you cannot tell which.

How much does the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam cost?

AWS's certification page, read October 2026, lists the exam at 100 USD, taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online with a proctor. The YouTube lessons, the Cloud Practitioner Essentials course and the 20-question official practice set cost nothing. The official practice exam needs a Skill Builder subscription, from $29 USD a month.

Should I watch the whole 13-hour freeCodeCamp course before the exam?

No. Andrew Brown's course on freeCodeCamp runs 13 hours 46 minutes, which is a reference, not a two-week plan for someone with a day job. Use its table of contents to jump to the topic of each day, watch that section, close it, and spend the rest of the hour on questions.

Does LearnPath give a certificate for an AWS Cloud Practitioner learning path?

Yes, on the Pro plan; free accounts do not get one. It shows you finished a LearnPath path, and it is not an AWS certification. Only passing the CLF-C02 exam earns the AWS credential. Free opens step 1 of up to two paths, and every later step is Pro.
