Quick Answer: how to pass Cloud Digital Leader in two weeks

Give it ten weekdays: about an hour on eight of them, plus two longer sessions. Cloud Digital Leader is a 90-minute Google Cloud certification exam, per Google's exam page read October 2026, on what its core products do and how they help an organization. Watch short YouTube clips, use one long course as reference, and finish on Google's sample questions.

That is the plan. Days 1 and 2 cover digital transformation and cloud basics, and Days 3 to 7 take one domain each: data, AI, infrastructure, security, then operations. Day 8 is Google's sample questions, Day 9 is review, and Day 10 tells you whether to sit the exam or move the date.

What the exam actually tests

Per Google's Cloud Digital Leader exam guide, launched on August 12, 2026 and read October 2026, the exam covers six domains. Five carry about 18% each and the sixth, operations, about 10%. It is about what products are for and why a business would choose them, not how to configure them.

These are the weights from the exam guide, read October 2026, mapped to this plan:

DomainShare of the examDays in this plan
1. Digital Transformation with Google Cloud~18%Days 1-2, reviewed Day 9
2. Exploring Data Transformation with Google Cloud~18%Day 3, reviewed Day 9
3. Innovating with Google Cloud Artificial Intelligence~18%Day 4, reviewed Day 9
4. Modernize Infrastructure and Applications with Google Cloud~18%Day 5, reviewed Day 9
5. Trust and Security with Google Cloud~18%Day 6, reviewed Day 9
6. Scaling with Google Cloud Operations~10%Day 7, reviewed Day 9

The format, per Google's exam page, read October 2026: 90 minutes, 50-60 multiple choice and multiple select questions, taken online-proctored from a remote location or onsite-proctored at a testing center. It is offered in English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Who this exam is for, and why your manager wants it

Google's exam page, read October 2026, says this certification is "for anyone who wishes to demonstrate their knowledge of cloud computing basics and how Google Cloud products and services can be used to achieve an organization's goals." If your company is moving to Google Cloud and you work in sales, product, management or analysis, that is you.

The same page says a Cloud Digital Leader "can articulate the capabilities of Google Cloud core products and services and how they benefit organizations." That is why managers ask for it: the people around the engineers get a shared vocabulary.

You do not need to be an engineer. Google lists no prerequisites, and the recommended experience is "Experience collaborating with technical professionals," per the exam page, read October 2026.

If your company runs on another cloud, our two-week AWS Cloud Practitioner prep plan and our two-week AZ-900 prep plan for Azure follow the same shape.

Read this first: the videos are older than the exam

Every video in this plan was made for an earlier version of the exam. Google launched the new exam guide on August 12, 2026; the freeCodeCamp course was uploaded on October 23, 2024, and the ExamPro clips we checked date from September 2021. The ideas these videos teach, like service models, regions, migration, security and cost, still hold. What drifts is product names and a set of newer topics.

The biggest rename sits in the AI domain. The ExamPro clips use pre-2026 product names; one is titled "Vertex AI Overview." Per Google Cloud's name changes page, read October 2026, Vertex AI Studio is now Agent Studio, and the exam guide calls the platform Agent Platform. When a video says "Vertex AI," write "Agent Platform" in your notes.

One more rename: Google Cloud Skills Boost is now called Google Skills. If a video sends you to Skills Boost, look for the same thing on Google Skills.

Keep the Cloud Digital Leader exam guide open all fortnight. When a video disagrees with it, the exam guide wins.

These topics appear in the current guide and get little or no time in the videos. They are the gaps, and each one has a day:

  • Day 1 and Day 4: agentic AI, defined in section 1.1 of the guide and covered again in section 3.1.
  • Day 3: AlloyDB, the Autoclass storage class, Looker and Managed Service for Apache Spark.
  • Day 4: Agent Platform and AI Hypercomputer.
  • Day 5: Spot VMs and Cloud Run functions.
  • Day 6: Model Armor, AI Protection, Google Threat Intelligence, Google Security Operations, and LLM attacks as a threat.
  • Day 7: Dynamic Workload Scheduler, and SLIs, SLOs and SLAs.

Cover them from the exam guide's own wording and from the matching course in Google's learning path on Google Skills, described below.

Before Day 1: three things to set up

Before your first study hour, open the exam guide in a tab, bookmark Google's official sample questions, and confirm your booking: date, time, and online or test center. Then block eight one-hour slots and two longer slots in your calendar. A plan that lives only in your head loses to the first busy week.

The exam guide and the sample questions. The exam guide PDF is the checklist. Google's official sample questions, a Google Form linked from the Cloud Digital Leader exam page as "Launch sample questions," are your Day 8 session. Do not open them before then; a first attempt is only useful once.

Google's learning path. The exam page says to "Prepare for the exam by following the Cloud Digital Leader Learning Path," which lives on Google Skills: the Cloud Digital Leader Learning Path. The path page calls it "a curated series of on-demand courses," with 6 activities. Sign in to see what your account opens, and use it to fill gaps.

The reference spine and the daily clips. freeCodeCamp's Google Cloud Digital Leader Certification Course - Pass the Exam! (freeCodeCamp.org, 6h 27m, uploaded October 23, 2024) was developed by Andrew Brown of ExamPro, whose short clips live in ExamPro's Google Cloud Cloud Digital Leader (GCP-CDL) playlist.

Start a question log too. One page, three columns: the question you got wrong, the domain, and the one-line reason the right answer is right. Week 2 runs on this page.

Week 1: transformation, data, AI and infrastructure

Week 1 is five weekdays of content. Days 1 and 2 cover the digital transformation domain, then Days 3, 4 and 5 take data, AI, and infrastructure and applications. Each day pairs a few short ExamPro clips with the matching freeCodeCamp chapter, so you hear each idea twice, then one exam-guide reading closes the gap.

Day 1: what the cloud is and why companies move

Watch ExamPro's Introduction to GCP CDL (11:47), then Benefits of Cloud Computing (4:23), Types of Cloud Computing (2:21) and Cloud Computing Deployment Models (3:37). That is about 22 minutes, and it is enough because this part of the domain is vocabulary: why move, the service models, and public, private and hybrid.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapter Cloud Concepts at 0:11:54 as reference. Then read section 1.1 of the exam guide, including its definition of agentic AI, and write three reasons your company is moving to Google Cloud.

Day 2: global infrastructure and digital transformation

Watch Regions (1:20), Zones (1:19), Latency (1:45), Digital Transformation (1:09) and Cloud Solution Pillars (4:17). It is enough because regions, zones and latency are a small set of linked terms, and the last two clips frame the business side the exam leans on.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapters Global Infrastructure at 0:59:20 and Digital Transformation at 1:16:54 as reference. Then read the rest of section 1 of the exam guide. Write one sentence per term: region, zone, latency, and what digital transformation means for your own team.

Day 3: data

Watch Databases Services (2:42), Data Warehouse (1:17), Cloud Storage (2:57), Data Analytics (2:01) and Dataproc Dataflow Cloud Data Fusion (1:58). It is enough because data questions turn on matching the right kind of store or tool to a business need, and these clips name the options side by side.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapters Core Services at 1:47:37 and More Services at 2:25:53 for the storage and database detail. Then read section 2 of the exam guide for the gaps: AlloyDB, the Autoclass storage class, Looker, and Managed Service for Apache Spark. Build a one-page map: where data is stored, analyzed and shown.

Day 4: AI, and the rename to remember

Watch Vertex AI Overview (4:38) and AI Services (1:28). They are enough for the core idea, the difference between ready-made AI services and a platform for building your own, because that split still holds. Where the first clip says "Vertex AI," write "Agent Platform."

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapter AI and ML at 3:10:02 as reference. Then spend the rest of the hour on section 3 of the exam guide, because this is the domain the videos cover least well. Read how section 3.1 says agentic AI is reshaping industries and the way people work, and the entries for "Agent Platform API," "Agent Studio on Agent Platform," "AutoML on Agent Platform" and AI Hypercomputer.

Day 5: infrastructure, applications, migration and APIs

Watch Compute Services (2:13), Containers Services (1:53), Kubernetes (1:32), Serverless Services (2:10), Types of Migration (2:14) and Apigee (1:29). It is enough because the exam asks you to tell virtual machines, containers and serverless apart, and to name a migration approach, and these clips do both.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapters Core Services at 1:47:37 for compute and Migration Services at 2:48:31. Then read section 4 of the exam guide. Learn its migration terms as pairs: rehost, or lift and shift; replatform, or move and improve; then refactor, reimagine, retire and retain. Add Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Run functions, Apigee and Spot VMs to your service map.

Week 2: security, operations, then questions until you are ready

Week 2 finishes the last two domains, then switches from watching to answering. Day 6 is trust and security, Day 7 is operations and cost, Day 8 is Google's sample questions, Day 9 is review from your question log, and Day 10 is a readiness check. Days 8 and 10 are the two longer sessions.

Day 6: trust and security

Watch Identity Access and Security Services (2:44), Secure by Design Infrastructure (2:11), Security Command Center (0:54), Cloud Armor (1:48) and Compliance Programs (3:38). It is enough because the stable core of this domain is who can do what, how Google secures its own infrastructure, and how compliance is shown, and these clips cover each.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapters Security at 3:45:14 and Identity at 4:09:24 as reference. Then read section 5 of the exam guide for what the videos predate: Model Armor, AI Protection, Google Threat Intelligence, Google Security Operations, and LLM attacks as a threat. For each, write one line on what it protects and from what.

Day 7: cost, resource hierarchy and operations

Watch TCO and Capex Vs Opex (4:00), Projects and Folders (1:38) and Operations Suite (1:00). They are enough because this domain is about 10% of the exam, and these clips cover its three anchors: how cloud spending differs from buying servers, how resources are organized, and how systems are watched.

Your session today: use the freeCodeCamp chapters Support at 4:25:24, Billing at 4:39:18, Pricing at 4:54:22 and Resource Hierarchy at 5:09:15 as reference. Then read section 6 of the exam guide. Draw the resource hierarchy as four nested boxes: resources, projects, folders, organization node. Add budgets, quotas, Cloud Billing reports and Dynamic Workload Scheduler, then Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Trace, Profiler and Error Reporting and SLIs, SLOs and SLAs.

Day 8: Google's official sample questions (long session)

Open Google's official sample questions, linked from the exam page as "Launch sample questions." They come from Google itself, so they are the closest thing to the real exam in this plan.

Your session today: answer them in one sitting with no notes and no video open. Then check every answer, and log every miss and every lucky guess with its domain. By the end you should know your weakest domain.

Day 9: review your weakest domains

Take your two weakest domains from the question log. For each, rewatch only the clips from that domain's day, then reread that section of the exam guide line by line. It is enough because the log points you at the topics that cost you points, and the guide shows you what the videos skipped.

Your session today: for any topic the videos leave out, open the matching course in Google's Cloud Digital Leader learning path on Google Skills instead. Then go through the exam guide end to end and tick each line you could explain to a colleague. Anything unticked goes on a list for Day 10.

Day 10: readiness check and exam-day plan (long session)

Run one honest check. Go back over the sample questions and explain each answer out loud, including why the wrong options are wrong. Then work through your unticked list from Day 9. You are ready when your misses are scattered rather than stacked in one domain. If one domain still dominates, move the exam date rather than guess.

Your session today: plan the clock. Per Google's exam page, read October 2026, you get 90 minutes for 50-60 questions, which leaves at least a minute and a half per question. Some questions are multiple select, so read each one carefully before you answer.

What to skip in these two weeks

Skip anything that teaches you to build rather than to explain: hands-on labs, console walkthroughs, command lines and the next certification's material. The exam asks what a product is for and why a business would use it. Building things is real and useful, and none of it moves your score in these ten days.

The full freeCodeCamp course end to end. At 6 hours 27 minutes it would eat most of your eight one-hour study slots.

The Follow Alongs chapter. It starts at 5:14:42 in the freeCodeCamp course and is the hands-on part.

ExamPro's Exam Guide Breakdown clip. The Exam Guide Breakdown (8:38) was uploaded in September 2021 and walks through the guide of that time. The guide launched on August 12, 2026 replaced it, so read the current PDF instead.

Paid practice packs. The freeCodeCamp description links to ExamPro's site, and the ExamPro playlist advertises cheat sheets and practice exams in its full course on exampro.co. They are an optional paid extra, never required for this plan.

The next certification. If this exam makes you curious about a technical cloud role, our ranking of the best YouTube channels for cloud engineering across AWS, Azure and GCP is the next read, after the exam.

What the exam costs, and the retake rule

Per Google's exam page, read October 2026, the Cloud Digital Leader registration fee is $99, plus tax where applicable. Every YouTube lesson and the official sample questions in this plan cost nothing. Ask your manager on Day 1 whether the company pays, before you book, so the plan does not stall on an expense question.

If the first attempt does not go your way, Google's retake policy, read October 2026, sets the rules for foundational exams like this one. You must wait at least 14 days after each failed attempt, with a maximum of ten attempts in a one-year period. Payment is required each time you register, so a retake costs the fee again.

Proof at the end: the pass, plus the certificate

The proof that this fortnight worked is the pass itself. It is the only thing that earns you the Google Cloud Digital Leader certification, and per Google's exam page, read October 2026, it stays valid for 3 years. Nothing else in this plan replaces that Google credential, and nothing should claim to.

LearnPath builds a path of free YouTube videos for a topic and generates a quiz from each video's transcript, so you find out whether a lesson stuck before the exam does. Free opens step 1 of up to two paths; every later step is Pro. The completion certificate is Pro-only, so free accounts do not get one, and it is not a Google certification. Only passing Cloud Digital Leader earns that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Six questions that come up when your manager has booked you on Cloud Digital Leader with two weeks to go. Each short answer points back to the part of the plan that covers it, so you can jump there when the question comes up halfway through a study hour or on the way home.

Can I pass Cloud Digital Leader in two weeks with a full-time job?

Google lists no prerequisites, only experience collaborating with technical professionals, per its exam page, read October 2026. Ten weekdays of about an hour each, plus two longer sessions, covers the six domains and Google's official sample questions. Nobody can promise a pass, so use the Day 10 readiness check to decide honestly.

How much does the Cloud Digital Leader exam cost?

Per Google's exam page, read October 2026, the registration fee is $99 plus tax where applicable. The shorter renewal exam you can take later costs $60 plus tax where applicable. The YouTube lessons and the official sample questions cost nothing. Ask your manager on Day 1 whether the company pays for the exam.

Are older YouTube videos still accurate after the August 12, 2026 exam update?

Mostly. Cloud concepts, infrastructure, security and cost are stable, but the guide launched on August 12, 2026 adds newer topics and uses newer names. When a clip says Vertex AI, write Agent Platform, the exam guide's name. Check each day against the exam guide, and when a video disagrees with it, the guide wins.

Does the Cloud Digital Leader certification expire?

Yes. Per Google's exam page, read October 2026, it is valid for 3 years. To renew, you can take the standard exam again, take a shorter 45-minute renewal exam, or complete designated courses or skill badges in Google Skills. Put the renewal date in your calendar now.

What score do you need to pass Cloud Digital Leader?

Google does not publish a passing score on its exam page, read October 2026, so do not trust any number you see quoted online. Aim instead to be consistently comfortable on the official sample questions, able to explain why each wrong option is wrong. That is the bar the Day 10 readiness check uses.

Does LearnPath give a certificate for a Google Cloud Digital Leader learning path?

Yes, on the Pro plan; free accounts do not get one. It shows you finished a LearnPath path, and it is not a Google certification. Only passing the Cloud Digital Leader exam earns the Google credential. Free opens step 1 of up to two paths, and every later step is Pro.
